Our Rapid City office is seeking to add an attorney to its flourishing and expanding Estate Planning/Trust group. Our Firm’s estate planning and trust attorneys draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, asset protection plans and transition plans for businesses. In addition, attorneys in our Estate Planning group assist clients with guardianships, conservatorships, probates, and trust administration. As part of our Trust group, our attorneys assist clients in creating, modifying and reforming a variety of trusts.

The ideal candidate for this position need not have experience in these areas, but must be self-motivated, a problem solver, and detail-oriented, and must possess a willingness to learn quickly, take direction, and talk with and counsel clients. Candidates for this position must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and must be licensed in South Dakota or be willing to sit for the next South Dakota bar exam. Jennifer joined the firm in 2015 and has been practicing law since 1997. She specializes in all facets of employment law, including representation of employees and employers in discrimination, harassment, disability, ADA, FMLA, and wage and hour claims, and regularly provides training and presentations on the same. In addition, she advises employers on compliance, handbooks and policies, privacy, non-competes, hiring, discipline, and termination.

Recently, Jennifer attended training for workplace investigations at the Association of Workplace Investigators’ one-week Training Institute where she earned her AWI certificate (AWI-CH), allowing her to conduct high quality external workplace investigations for employers. She is a member of the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Black Hills SHRM (BH SHRM), and is currently serving as President of BH SHRM. She is also a member of the South Dakota, Pennington County, Minnesota and American Bar Associations.

Lynn, Jackson, Shultz & Lebrun will be reopening offices by appointment only on Monday, July 6th. In light of COVID, and in order to comply with CDC guidelines, all visitors to Lynn Jackson’s offices must comply with the following:

• All visitors are required to wear a mask in the common areas of our office (waiting area, restrooms) and must bring their own mask.  Masks may be removed once in the conference room, if all in attendance agree. 
• All meetings/depositions/mediations in the offices are limited to 10 people in the same room.
• Seating assignments should be made in order to ensure as much distance between people in the conference room as possible.
• Immediately upon entry into the offices, visitors will be asked to sanitize their hands using the provided hand sanitizer.  
• Immediately upon entry into the offices, visitors will be asked to complete a form that asks the following questions:

o In the last 7 days, have you been in contact with anyone who was diagnosed with or exposed to COVID?

o In the last 7 days, have you been advised to self-quarantine or isolate?

o In the last 7 days, have you had any of the known symptoms of COVID, including fever, cough, lack of smell/taste, or body aches?

Lynn, Jackson, Shultz & Lebrun, P.C. is pleased to announce that Drew Skjoldal, an attorney in our Spearfish office, has been elected to the Board of Bar Commissioners for the State Bar of South Dakota. The Board of Bar Commissioners provides oversight to the various operations of the State Bar, such as finance, public policy, professional standards, member services, and communications. Skjoldal will represent the 4th Circuit, which includes eight counties in western South Dakota, and will serve a three year term.

Skjoldal is an experienced estate planning and transactional attorney, specializing in the areas of estate planning, probate, trust administration, real estate, and commercial transactions. Skjoldal was awarded the 2019 Great Plains Super Lawyers® Rising Star and is active in the Spearfish community, and in various clubs and organizations.

Skjoldal earned his undergraduate degree from Black Hills State University and his law degree from Northern Kentucky University – Salmon P. Chase College of Law.
